Old members Cam and Phil have departed and been replaced by James Excel on Drums and 'Roo' Hopkins on 2nd guitar and keyboards. In addition Dorian Broomhall comes in on Trumpet to work with Bails as a Brass sect. giving a lot of power to the characteristic BAT Rock instrumentals and newer Indie Rock songs.

'I think we'll be looking at doing the opening gig at The Brisbane Hotel in Hobart as it's got the best PA in town and Ivan the owner is really into his music'.

BAT has grown from a concept of Guitar fronted Instrumental Songs where lyrics are replaced by the guitar lines. Through the 4 Albums so far, a deliberate direction where grand soundfields are laid to support the strong BAT guitar style and create a unique form of music called ROCK ART. Slowly introducing lyrics BAT is following his obvious Rock/Blues/Folk/Classical roots looking for the centre of the earth. ‘SHADES’ The first CD which started it all. A collection of experimental Instrumentals using the concept of ‘Music for your Imagination’ Stand out tracks ‘Somedays’ and ‘Lay Down’ still played in the live set. Songs from the Dark Wood RELEASE SOON - September 24, 2009

So I bloody well finished it against the odds. Well- againt the odds of being hoisted into the firmament by a race of Amazon style beauties who were guy hungry- I suppose I couldn't fail to finish the new album.
However I'm really pleased with the outcome and once I've rounded up the band we'll be doing a launch gig in Hobart before Bails goes off hunting Italians for a month.

BAT in the USA - August 21, 2009

A delightful Radio Station in INDIANA has snapped up quite a number of BAT tunes for immediate scheduling .WHUM 985 gets added to the growing list of radio stations playing BAT music.

'Songs from the Dark Wood' is a step on from the previous Rock Instrumental releases.

11 Tracks of Rock songs with the occasional Instrumental with drums from Cameron Herbert and Sax from Bails. All lyrics /vocals/guitars/keys/fx are from BAT himself.

To listen to a couple of the tracks just follow the myspace link or go to cdbaby.com for the purchase of single tracks or the full CD.

BAT will be gigging the album starting in Oct 2009 in Hobart that's if all the band are available.

If not he'll be doing a few solo acoustic sets when the wind changes.

Got new gear. - June 16, 2008

Finally I have saved and starved my way to paying for a Left Handed Les Paul Standard to go with my Left Handed Strat..both totally great guitars.
In addition I'm now running a stereo VOX AC30 rig which sounds sweet with a TC Electronics G Major effects unit at the front end.
At last I've rebuilt a good road rig after loosing all my stuff in a bad situation in Japan quite some time ago.

RADIO PLAY IN NETHERLANDS - June 16, 2008

Yep I'm happy to say that BAT was played on Radi Heemskerk , a radio station in The Netherlands, last week. I know that's only a start but another really cool thing is that as I live in Tasmania there was a historical link there all the time.
Back in 1642 the Dutch explorer Able Tasman actually discovered Tasmania [130ish yrs. before Cook] and planted a flag just 10 minutes from where I live and one of his ships was called The Heemskerk. The flag was obviously nicked as I can't find it anywhere but someone plonked a bloody big obelisk there instead...try grabbin' that.

GIGS REPORT - April 25, 2008

So another brace of shows for BAT in little Hobart. Much better vibe after the break but we seem to have lost Crystal to her solo career....thanks sweetie.
The BIG hunt now is to get this show on the road nationally and the rest. My concentration is in this area for the near future aswell as getting on with a new album of originals.
A special thanks to ARIA award winner Debra Manskey for her continued support and magical voice.
